Our adventure through Northern Vietnam now has us on a rented motorbike in the province of Cao Bằng. AND HOW AWESOME IT WAS!Ban Gioc Waterfall was incredible beautiful, with multiple cascades over a variety of falls. And we got a glimpse of China on the other side of the Quây Sơn River! But the real treat was at Trúc Lâm Pagoda, a mere 3 minutes from the waterfall. We really appreciate the Buddhist religion and we loved this mountaintop worship area. Next stop, back to Hanoi and then… SOUTH KOREA!Thanks for watching!▶︎SUBSCRIBE! Yay, you guys got to ride the scooter. Don't you feel so free to be able to ride the scooter in VN, especially in such a lovely and peaceful setting. Being able to see and be with the water buffalo, see Mother Nature's great creation must feel awesome. As for Buddhism, I'm a Buddhist so I'm biased but I like it because it doesn't dictate and intervene in how I live from a day to day or week to week basis in terms of ritual, or how it «approves» of who you marry or what religion you must sign up for your yet to be born child. I'm sorry if I'm hijacking your channel with my ramblings but thanks again for a great video from a very lovely couple. Ride safely though you guys, take care.
As for turtle and crane, and I'm just referencing what's been written about the symbol, it's a representation of Helping and caring for each other until each passed into the mists of time. I guess the story was with annual flood, the crane couldn't find place to land and was at risk of death from exhaustion. The turtle rose out of the water and offered his back for the crane to rest until the flood recede. The crane owed the turtle an eternal debt and grew old together. Then there was the year of the drought (Buddhism believes in cycles of events) and many animals died from lack of water and the crane helped carry the turtle to a place with water. There, the 2 animals lived together in reciprocity… helping and caring for each other until each passed into the mists of time. Vietnam society and gov't now still have a saying about a healthy and full blow leaf help shelter a weak and torn leaf from storm as a way of reminding those with good fortune help those in needs.
